First Kares Gala to be held in Vancouver

K.A.R.E.S (Kids at Risk Embracing Success) is holding first ever gala in Vancouver this Nov. 10.

Players throughout the mortgage industry will be assembling to support Kids at Risk across Canada.

“Hosting a gala is a fun and engaging way to raise money and awareness” says Meryll Dreyer, one of the Founders of Kares.ca “There is such a widespread need to help these forgotten youth whose surroundings make it nearly impossible for them to rise above their circumstances.”

Harrowing stories elucidates how important support systems like the Kares program is for children who are raised under dire, even downright dangerous, circumstances.

“With two meth parents, I had to raise my four siblings by myself and pretend like everything was okay,” said Robyn who attended one of the programs Kares supports.

“An abusive family situation drove me out of my home at 14,” said Virginia, another attendee. “I had nowhere to go but the streets.”

“We were robbed at gun point by my uncle for $500.00, “explains Scott.

According to Kyra Wong—who had a tumultuous childhood herself—says that it is important for the industry to come together and support children in need because it at least provides them the chance to attain the heights many in the mortgage industry have enjoyed. She added that, sometimes, all it takes is a healthy hand.

“These are just some of the sad situations confronting young lives every day,” said Wong, who is a founding committee member of Kares, and who also created the Magical Unicorn Project. “The good news is, together as an industry we have the power to help these kids reach their full potential through, work-ready, transition and regenerative support services. Your support will go much further than you ever imagined.”

The gala will be held in a stunning venue on the water beside False Creek. With a four-course sit-down dinner, amazing music by the renowned DJ Tan and surprises throughout the night, it promises to be a magical affair, and all for a great cause.

Some of the live auction items include fishing trips, sports event package, flight in a WWII Bomber, a McLaren Track Day, Croatia package and much more. Plus, there is a Surprise Box for purchase where the winner can win a travel voucher.
