Mortgage brokers in Atlantic Canada have two new choices for lenders now that Abode Mortgage Corporation and VFC Home have expanded their operations to include the East Coast.

"We are very excited about the new business opportunities our expansion into Atlantic Canada will provide," said Mike Linehan, CEO of the Vancouver-based Abode. "We are now well positioned to take advantage of the dynamic conditions that are emerging in the Atlantic mortgage marketplace."

Abode has opened one office in Halifax with one BDM, Cameron McInnes, covering the four East Coast provinces. The lender's offerings include three- and five-year fixed term mortgages insured by CMHC.

VFC Home, a subsidiary of TD Bank that launched earlier this year, also recently began serving brokers in Atlantic Canada. VFC Home offers non-conventional mortgages, including loans for purchases or refinances that aren't solely based on credit score. It also provides financing for BFS borrowers and owner-occupied and rental properties. The BDM for the area is Jason Walsh, who is based in Halifax.
