TMG names new president, opens Toronto office

Mark Kerzner has been named the new president and chief operating officer of The Mortgage Group by the brokerage's founders and will work out of a new TMG office in Toronto.

"TMG's roots are in B.C. and it has a strong presence out west, but this is a great opportunity to further expand into the east and reinforce the commitment the network has made to Ontario and Eastern Canada," said Kerzner, who most recently worked as an independent consultant and, prior to that, held roles as executive vice-president of operations at Paradigm Quest and vice-president of sales and marketing at FirstLine Mortgages.

In his new role, Kerzner will be responsible for promoting the image of TMG and working with chairman and CEO Grant Thomas to expand the reach of the brokerage, which includes more than 650 brokers from every province but Quebec.

"I've always liked the origination side of the business and I've always enjoyed working with brokers and helping find ways for them to grow their business," he said, adding he also made the job switch because "it was one of those things where it was the right opportunity at the right time."
