Industry charitable program announces June initiative
For the entire month, Kares.ca has promised to match donations made to the industry’s national program.

Throughout the month of June, brokers and industry professionals who donate a minimum one-year donation of $25 per month to Kares.ca will have their donation matched up to a maximum of $10,000.

“Our industry has a unique opportunity to transform vulnerable and marginalized youth by providing education, skills and tools to create a bright future,” Megan McDonald, Kares.ca director of social media and founding committee member, said. “Key support systems offered by Kares.ca include the opportunity for young people to build promising careers, as well as equipping young parents with the required skills to improve their economic and social stability.”

MCAP, I Love Mortgage Brokering, Spagnuolo & Company Real Estate Lawyers and Women in the Mortgage Industry (WIMI) have been announced as partners in the annual tradition, which starts this year.

“There is no better time to commit to giving to Kares.ca,” said Hali Strandlund, cofounder at Kares.ca. “Matching is always a fantastic way to stretch your donation even further.”

K.a.r.e.s. – Kids at Risk Embracing Success – aims to improve the lives of marginalized youth.

According to the foundation, 1/3 of all Canadian homeless are between the ages of 16 and 24 and 70% of those have been physically, sexually, and/or emotionally abused.

The program was launched late last year at the MPC conference in Vancouver. It has partnered with a number of different charities, and allows donors to choose where their money is allocated.

“This is really focusing on youth-specific programs primarily for kids that have been marginalized, whether it’s financially, domestically, mentally,” Meryll Dreyer, COO of VERICO Dreyer Group and co-founder of Kares.ca, told MortgageBrokerNews.ca prior to the program launch.
