Female broker-only golf tournament sells out

Meadowbrook Golf and country club will play host to the sixth-annual Ontario Women’s Mortgage Industry Golf tournament on September 16 and the event is already sold out.

“We have 144 golfers and 30 volunteers participating in the event,” Mary Clare Stella of Paradigm Quest told MortgageBrokerNews.ca.

The tournament was launched in 2008 by Kathy Gregory, president & CEO of Paradigm, with the intention of creating industry events that support female mortgage professionals –lenders, brokers, suppliers – still underrepresented in leadership roles.

“The goal was to create events for women only, a forum for leadership networking, camaraderie building and a way to give back to other women across Canada,” Stella said. “To support an important collective charity endeavour (Gregory) sought out the Canadian Women’s Foundation and the organization became the charity of choice for the events.”

The Candian Women's Foundation supports bringing women and children out of poverty across the country through housing, training and positive mentorship.

Along with the founding platinum sponsors, Merix Financial and Genworth, the Ontario Women’s Mortgage industry golf tournament has raised over $125,000 for the organization to date, through the overwhelming annual support of the women and organizations in the mortgage community.

While this year’s event is already sold out, those wishing to support the Canadian Women’s Foundation can contact Mary Clare Stella.

“We are still very much in need of auction item donations and have a couple of sponsorship opportunities still available,” Stella said.
