App popularity a reflection of consumer tastes? With more than five million screen views and over 3,000 Five Star ratings, it shouldn’t be surprising that this homegrown mortgage app has been ranked by Apple and Google as one of the top 25 free business apps.

The Canadian Mortgage App is the number one ranked and most accurate, comprehensive and easy to use mobile app that helps you estimate realistic monthly homeownership costs, says Ben Salami, CEO/Founder of Bendigi Technologies Inc., reflecting the public appetite to start their mortgage search not only the internet, but from their smartphones.

“Its success on iOS, Android and most recently the BlackBerry platform has emerged organically,” says Salami. “We spent a lot of time perfecting this app, because it is where Generation Y is looking when they want a mortgage or insurance quote.”

CMHC recently conducted a survey of 3,510 mortgage consumers in March – all of whom had attained a mortgage within the prior 12 months; and of those surveyed, 78 per cent of consumers started their search online prior to attaining a mortgage.

Results from that same survey showed that of those who used the internet for mortgage info, 56 per cent accessed lender websites; 24 per cent visited broker websites; and 15 per cent used both.
