Even as originations through Realtors and clients slow across much of the industry, brokers are actively developing leads and closing deals originating on Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms.

    Social media is not about getting referrals, its about being referable. If people like you, they are likely to do business with you. Social media is not about paying for a facebook ad, rather its about commenting on someone's status on Facebook or having a conversation on Twitter. I actually had an online application come through last week that had Twitter in the "referred by" section. After calling the client, he told me that he follows our office on Twitter and that he felt like he knew us and we were a natural fit for him. Social Media is a great way to connect with people in a way that traditional advertising can not.
