    Increase demand and the amount of potential buyers and what happens? Prices go up. Decreased demand due to lack of qualifying, and reduce the amount of potential buyers and you know exactly what happens.

    people need a house. they will rent. Someone will own that house.
    Now if rents go up, then the owner can afford to buy more houses.
    rich people win, poor people lose
    only way to change price is by flooding market with supply.
    more homes, lower rent, lower price
