Closure of National Bank’s broker-mediated distribution has left Scotiabank and TD as the last of the Big 6 to sell mortgages through brokers

Not exactly sure what is meant by the following statement in the above article - can someone please clarify?
"The Bank also assured that it will set the underwriting parameters in all originations, thus preventing the issues prevalent in the broker-mediated set-up from arising."

This was probably cooking for several months. All of a sudden Merix shows up in Quebec, we were so happy to see them coming in to our market. No one suspected there was another agenda.

As a broker who placed a considerable amount of business with National Bank over the years, they always had a great All In One product but they struggled to provide decent service to brokers as we worked hard to get deals completed. The biggest loss here will be the absence of the AIO product to brokers in servicing the consumer.

The disappointing part is not them leaving the broker channel but them trying to position it like they are not! don't insult our intelligence and say you are continuing to support the broker channel! RBC and BMO buy mortgages from Mono-lenders but you don't see them going around and saying that they are supporting the broker channel!

As a broker who placed a considerable amount of business with National Bank over the years, the bank had a great product in the All in One. However, they always struggled to deliver even mediocre service to the channel. They were hard to work with but we used them to provide a great a product to our clients. I will miss the AIO but not the headaches of dealing with their dismal service.
