Police in Port Coquitlam will soon have new powers to deal with bullies, thanks to a program spearheaded by Dominion Lending Centres president Gary Mauris and the city’s mayor, creating B.C.’s first anti-bullying bylaw.

I am so incredibly proud to be a part of a company such as Dominion Lending Centres who's President, Gary Mauris , has taken the initiative to "Be Someone" and help with anti bullying.

Gary - you're consistently demonstrating the right and responsible use of power to do good for others - good on you, and more power to you. Cheers.

Gary - This initiative is an inspiration to everyone in our industry, and for all Canadians. As Al Batt once said "It is easy to sit up and take notice, what is difficult is getting up and taking action."

Thanks for being someone who stood up and took action.

Congratulations Gary - this could be the start of something big if all communities adopt this policy now instead of waiting for another tragedy that could have been averted with this type of by-law to deter this behaviour in children, teens and adults.

Wow! What a great example of leadership Gary. Not only as a business leader for which we respect your talents but also as a community leader. Giving back to the people we serve is the best gift we can bring.

Great job Gary and all those involved in the implementation of this bylaw. As a parent I would like to see much more stringent and effective legislation all across Canada to deal with bullying. My greatest fear is to have my son's childhood memories to be of some bully and not the fun times with friends.
