Managers of Reddit: What was the most ridiculous, most exaggerated excuse an employee gave that turned out to be true?

I had an employee call in sick because the Parkade Door of his apartment building wasn't working and he couldn't get his car out of the Parkade. So, I advised him that as far as I knew the Bus and or a Taxi would get him to work just fine. So, he took a Taxi and threw the receipt on my desk!!!

I had mice eat through my wiring harness in my car so called in sick to fix. Fixed it and when I went to go to work the next day, they chewed through it again that night and had to call in sick again. Boss thought it was BS but it was completely true
