The Mortgage Institute of British Columbia, an iniative of the Mortgage brokers Association of British Columbia, provides re-licensing training for all mortgage brokers in British Columbia. The modules are designed to provide the mortgage agent with timely and in depth training modules that will enhance the understanding of their responsibilities. In BC the industry belief is that by bringing higher standards and more intense training the broker channel in BC will be strengthened in the marketplace. Check out the website

The issue of mortgage agents flying solo is not one of education, it is an issue of supervision. If there was a requirement to have a broker in place at each local office then there would be adequate supervision for new inexperienced agents. This has nothing to do with the agent's education but everything to do with the organizational structure of the super brokers.
