If we say that we are a profession, then we need to start acting like one. The CA's, for example, have a national proficiency exam which they set and mark. They also determine the standards candidates must meet, not provincial regulators. The same applies to Doctors. They are regulated by provincial colleges of physicians and surgeons. But they write a national qualifying exam. We should do likewise. We should determine what a broker needs to start in our profession and we should set and mark the qualifying exam. There should be provincial associations to which the broker must belong before being allowed to service clients. Until that happens, we are not a profession. And we should be.

Any line of work that requires 1 course to be in business is not mush of a profession. The reality is the low barriers to entry in this industry are a complete joke. I don't know make CA's that also operate a taxi at night.
