Credit rationing and higher interest rates might help cool down Canada’s real estate markets, a leading economist says

There is no real appetite to curb the people that are causing this overheated market, cash is king, how do you stop them? Interest rates, CMHC rules, don't mean anything to someone paying cash, so tightening the rules only affects the poor little guy that managed to save up his paltry 5 or 10% down payment, but can't get into anything because they keep getting out bid or knocked out because they want to do something as crazy as write in subjects. Really if someone wanted to cool this market, there are measures that could be taken, but we don't really want to stop the cash flowing into our country now do we?
