The Real Estate and Mortgage Institute of Canada (REMIC) is a leading provider of mortgage agent licensing courses in the country. It also offers continuing education and life insurance agent courses.  

REMIC is the only certified educational institution in Ontario that provides mortgage agent courses. The institute is approved by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) and the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC). 

History of REMIC 

REMIC was founded by Joseph J. White in 2008. It was established to address the educational needs of aspiring mortgage agents and financial services professionals. Over the years, REMIC has expanded its educational offerings. In 2016, the institute launched its Harmonized Life License Qualification Program (HLLQP) for those what to pursue a career in life insurance. REMIC’s HLLQP courses are approved in all provinces, except Québec.

About REMIC President and CEO Joseph White 

Joseph J. White is the founder and president of REMIC. He has been a significant figure in Canada’s mortgage industry since 1988. White started his career as a mortgage agent. Since then, he has held various leadership roles, including national sales manager and vice-president of sales at national mortgage lenders.  

As an educator, White has instructed over 15,000 students, many of whom are now industry leaders. His contributions have been pivotal in making REMIC the largest mortgage educator in the country, teaching over 6,000 students annually. White's leadership extends to the development of AI in the mortgage sector, further demonstrating his commitment to innovation and growth in the industry. He is also a co-founder and serves as president of Conversational Artificial Intelligence Technologies (CaiT).
