The 2009 Canadian Mortgage Awards results are in

The winner for each of the 18 award categories have been selected for this year's prestigious CMP Mortgage Awards, with a number of surprises in store for those in attendance

The winner for each of the 18 award categories have been selected for this year's prestigious CMP Mortgage Awards, to be held this Friday at Toronto's Liberty Grand, with a number of surprises in store for those in attendance.

The six judges - three of which (David Mandel, Brian Peterson and Frank Hickey) have a combined 85 years in the mortgage industry - have thought long and hard and finally made their decisions.

And it was no easy task, as more nominations were made this year than in any other.

"I actually took all the finalists and mapped them out on a grid so that I could see exactly how each one ranked next to one another," said Frank Hickey, who spent more than 10 hours pouring over the results.

An equally as difficult winner to choose, the lifetime achievement award, which goes out every year to someone in the industry that has gone above and beyond the call in order to not only succeed financially, but to advance the industry as a whole, is sure to not disappoint. Not only is this year's well-known recipient behind the formation of a prominent national brokerage, but worked behind the scenes to improve all mortgage professionals' day-to-day transactions, not to mention a shining personality to match.

Steve Patterson, the night's MC, CBC radio personality and multi-nominated Canadian Comedy award stand up comedian, is sure to bring his biting sense of humour as well (here's a sample).
