In an announcement earlier this week, the Royal Bank
of Canada stated that it will enable bill payments using the proprietary intelligent personal assistant Siri.
The updated RBC Mobile app will allow iPhone and iPad users to ask Siri to pay their bills, the bank said.
RBC also launched Interac e-Transfer® payments within iMessage, which will facilitate person-to-person money transfers without leaving the iMessage window.
“By offering bill payments through Siri and P2P transfers through iMessage, we’re providing more convenient solutions to support our client’s payment needs,” RBC executive vice-president Sean Amato-Gauci stated.
“Our clients are avid users of Interac e-Transfer payments, and embraced our launch of money transfers using Siri earlier this year. By giving clients the ability to seamlessly and conveniently bank using voice commands, we’re delivering simple and innovative solutions.”
The payment solutions were the latest products of the RBC innovation labs, which collaborates with clients, fintechs, and the academe to devise and test new ideas intended to streamline banking. According to the labs, more client solutions are slated for introduction this year.
