Finalists for Canadian Mortgage Awards broker/brokerage categories announced

As the 2012 Canadian Mortgage Awards wind down on June 1, there may be some familiar names headed to the podium to accept the Broker, Brokerage and National Broker Network of the year awards.

Diana Zitko of Coquitlam, B.C. will look to defend her crown as Broker of the Year (fewer than 25 employees), while TMG The Mortgage Group hopes to capture the National Broker Network of the Year Award it received last year. Today the last group of finalists are being released which also include the Broker of the Year (25 or more employees), Brokerage of the Year (fewer than 25 employees) and Brokerage of the Year (25 or more employees) awards.

“We’re incredibly passionate about this industry. We love what we do and it’s really rewarding that we’ve gotten to touch the lives of so many people in this industry,” said TMG president Mark Kerzner, accepting its award at last year’s event.

In addition to Zitko, Dan Mass of Calgary, Luisa Hough of Surrey, B.C. and Trish Piggot of Coquitlam, B.C. are also nominated for Broker of the Year (fewer than 25 employees) for the second consecutive year. In the Broker of the Year (25 or more employees) category, Bill Nugent of Newmarket, Ont. and Don MacVicar of Mississauga, Ont. return for another opportunity to win, while Collin Bruce of Edmonton nominated last year for Broker of the Year (fewer than 25 employee) moves up to the 25 or more employees category.

In the Brokerage of the Year categories, the finalists come from across the country, including Ontario (4), B.C. (4) Alberta (3), Manitoba (2) and Saskatchewan (1). VERICO First Mortgage in Calgary and Dominion Lending Centres West Coast Mortgages in Coquitlam are nominated again in the fewer than 25 employees category, while in the 25 or more employees category, VERICO Canadian Mortgage Lender in Calgary is also nominated for the second year in a row.

The sixth annual Canadian Mortgage Awards, presented by Home Trust, will take place on Friday, June 1 in Toronto at The Carlu.

The fate of the finalists in now in the hands of the judging panel, with the entire process being overseen by PwC, the official auditor of the Canadian Mortgage Awards.

The Canadian Mortgage Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence across the entire spectrum of mortgage brokering. There are 21 organizational and individual categories that have been designed to ensure national recognition of both large and small organizations on their individual merits. This annual black-tie gala is the event highlight of the year that attracts the biggest names in the business throughout Canada.
