DLC brokers take over New Orleans

by |

Dominion Lending Centres’ annual National Sales Conference in New Orleans had brokers buzzing following a fun-filled three-day event capping off September.

“The 2013 DLC National Sale Conference in New Orleans was an amazing experience and a top-notch run event for which the organizers should be extremely proud; the venue was a perfect marriage and reflection of the energy and enthusiasm that is DLC and the management team,” said  Tracey Latimer, with DLC The Mortgage Source. “Every aspect of the planned events – gospel singers, Mardi Gras, the welcome party – reflected the energy. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our business and this company.”

With more than 350 DLC attendees – and over 400 who attended the evening events – the conference provided ample opportunity for brokers to engage professional development learning while having a great time on Bourbon Street and beyond.

“The days were jam-packed with education, including a Trade Fair featuring 40+ exhibitors and 17 incredibly well-attended  Learning Centre sessions – covering a variety of topics ranging from internal DLC business building and client management tool training to private lending, insurer offerings and beyond,” Cindy Freiman, director of public relations and communications, told MortgageBrokerNews.ca. “Thanks to the wide range of educational sessions, DLC agents earned seven CAAMP CE credits, while owners and managers also attending the leadership meeting earned eight.”

And it’s clear DLC has found the right formula to ensure brokers attend year after year.

“As a new franchise partner with Dominion Lending – after 17 years plus in the brokerage industry – DLC never fails to amaze,” Angela Coyne of DLC Family Mortgage Group said. “First-class execution by all the head office team... DLC has raised the bar (and I’m) so happy to be here.”

Perhaps a bid to spread the love around, DLC has planned next year’s event to take place in Canada.

“At the closing ceremony … we announced we’re bringing the next conference home to Canada in beautiful Whistler, B.C. – September 16-20, 2015,” Freiman said. “Check www.dominionlendingevents.ca for the launch of this conference in the months to come.”

It was an awesome event. Thanks DLC head office staff for all your work in setting this up!

It is about time another of the mortgage brands started to follow the same path that other major companies take in Canada... that is to hold conferences IN CANADA. Fine you get a tax write off on the trip, but seriously... we should be supporting our economy and communities. These conferences, when held in Canada, drive brand recognition and inject cash into the local economy.

Having it in Canada is the responsible thing to do and good on DLC for finally recognizing that.

It's funny... when Centum had their national conference in Canada and said that they do it to support local economy they got lambasted on here for not understanding why they hold them out of country. Now DLC get's praise for doing the same thing?

This industry is so screwed up.

Did a little research... DLC has had THIRTY - yup 30 - stories in CMP magazine in 2013. Compare that to no more than TWO for any other single brand in the industry, and more than any bank.

Wonder why DLC is taking home so many awards at the Mortgage Awards? Now you know.

DLC is a bunch of press mongers that feel they need to boast about every little accomplishment. Not that any of their accomplishments are ground breaking news.

Yes, I am going to get blasted now by all the DLC blowhards, but the rest of the brokers are content to go along with their business and not have a need to stand on the roof top and scream to the world every time someone at DLC thinks they have "reinvented" the mortgage industry.

Yes, just as M. Robertson noted in his comments, the CMP magazine does quite often sound like a DLC newsletter.

You know what they say, those who scream the loudest, fall the hardest.

Oh, by the way, did you here the groundbreaking news story for next week, DLC is starting to plan their next conference for next year. It is going to be the event of the year, and something that has NEVER been done before. Or so DLC would have you believe.
    LOL

I agree with Keith and M. Robertson... On DLC's website it states that it is CANADA's National Mortgage Company, yet we they do not hold confrences in Canada? There needs to be more press about DLC holding confrences out of country. I bet the people who use them for mortgages would not be overly happy about this. Could this location have been a suggestion from Don Cherry.
