B.C.’s mortgage broker association is taking industry talk to a new level – more specifically, a new medium – with the launch of an online television show, focused on airing broker beefs, concerns and successes.

The Mortgage Brokers Association of British Columbia will broadcast the first episode of Mortgages…unplugged this Friday at 10:30 a.m. PST (3:00 p.m. in Newfoundland).

The Mortgage Group’s Debbie Thomas will lead the inaugural panel of MBABC members – a smattering of senior brokers – in a half-hour discussion once a month, weighing in on the issues of the day.

This week’s panel includes MBABC President Geoff Parkin, VP Jared Dreyer and Media Chair Geoff Willis.

They’ll answer questions sent in by members of the media, among others industry stakeholders invited to email in mortgage questions.

The initiative marks a milestone for an industry focused on growing both external and internal communication, although CAAMP was among the first to make use of online broadcasting as part of the annual forum.

MBABC TV is less focused on spot reporting and more on promoting a dialogue between brokers, with an educational component attached to that discussion.

The reaction of brokers will likely dictate future programming, with Mortgages…unplugged moving to a bi-weekly schedule if, in fact, response warrants it.
