After meeting with government officials to express how the recent mortgage rule changes have impacted the industry, channel representatives are headed back to Ottawa.

“On March 6th and 7th, I will be joining Eddy Cocciollo, President of Mortgage Centre Canada; Paul Taylor, CEO of Mortgage Professionals Canada, and others to return to Ottawa to represent (Dominion Lending Centres) and our industry,” Dave Teixeira, VP of marketing and public relations at DLC, said in a note to the DLC network, which was shared with MortgageBrokerNews.ca. “Along with other industry leaders, we will be attending the first ever Parliament Hill Advocacy Days. These two days will be about meeting with parliamentarian decision makers and key policy makers.”

These two days follow earlier meetings with the Standing Committee on Finance that took place in February.

Industry representatives -- including Dominion Lending Centres’ own Gary Mauris, Paul Taylor of Mortgage Professionals Canada, and Ajay Soni of the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association – met with MPs, as well as representatives from CMHC.

“I can tell you Gary made a big, positive impression on the Committee,” Teixeira said. “This group is seriously questioning the approach taken by CMHC, their own Federal Government and others.”

In addition the March’s meetings, Mauris is also scheduled to meet with Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, Larry Schembri to share insights into how the recent mortgage rule changes have impacted the industry and Canadians.
