As a former banker, investment properties have much higher risks than owner occupied properties, especially when an investor has several investment properties. If the investor has cash flow problems, it can be domino effect and even if the investor has good mortgage repayment history, cash flow problem can occur if the investor has a few bad tenants. Alternative financing may be an option for financing but the pricing is so much higher than a regular lender, it can directly affected the return on investment.
