    This comment responds to Joe White article and statement, "there’s just too much competition from the banks which have the power to squeeze us out". The only they way a bank can squeeze a Brokerage out is with the client who is shopping on rates only. This is where the Banker must cut its rates to meet the purchasor demands and take some losses hoping to make it up in other areas. I ask of Joe White, who I believe does a great job, why is Rogers Communication, Presidents Choice, whishing to open financial centres in their locals.

    Only when the mortgage purchasor feels their strength, which in many cases is learned from a Brokerage who has educated the purchasor.

    Over the years I noted many Agents have requested a more agressive marketing program defining the role of the Mortgage Brokerage directed to the mortgage client. I spend a lot of time explaining the difference between the role of the Banker versus the role of the Brokerage. I spend 25% of my developing new markets. I would be happy to increase my dues if our representative bodies increased their marketing budget by directing advertising to the role of the Agent/Broker. A campaign througout Ontario would have a direct impact on our bottom line and also attract skilled people who would see this role as an attractive business with an important role in the financial market.

    The Mortgage Consumer feels disapointed when they go to the Bank for service after they have spoken with a professional mortgage agent/broker. The reason being the Bank's cannot live up to the commercial hype they provide. Ask the Insurance companies.

    Would we suffer the same problem if we advertised our role and what services are offered?
