No, brokers, it wasn’t all in your head. CIBC’s latest financials confirm the bank has actively been shifting its mortgage focus back to the branch and away from the broker channel, ahead of putting FirstLine on the auction block.

Its a sad day, many wonderful hardworking people on the frontline and the backshop of what was once a truly great company now having to worry about their jobs; after in some cases having devoted 15 years to building up something from nothing.

You wish the top management of a huge bank could be a little more sensitive to people who devoted so much of their lives to a company having to learn about the sale on internet bogs several weeks ago. I realize that's often how business sales go but it does not make anyone feel better about it.

Wouldn't this be a HUGE opportunity to contact your favorite FirstLine employees (underwriters, etc) to have them join your team?!? Silver lining, people, silver lining!!
