A new government program promises to match the down payment for eligible first-time homebuyers

What a great idea. Municipalities in Ontario have access to a similar program through the Provincial government and CMHC but its barely ever used, with rent subsidies and other affordable housing efforts that do not include actual home ownership more "popular." As a result lenders seem unwilling/unable to accept these deals.

Lets hope BC's initiative meets with more widespread lender acceptance.

We all agree home ownership is good. Kudos to the BC government for trying something different.

When does the madness end? Why should tax payers foot the bill so that people who don't know how to save be "entitled" to purchase a house or condo. If you don't have the money, too bad. Then you wait until you have it. So predictable that the realtors, developers, and mortgage brokers applaud this initiative. They all must think we are a bunch of idiots. They could care less about the people who will get these loans. They just want to keep the party going.

Many of us in Ontario are hoping that we can get a similar program.

    1. Buys votes!
    2. redistribution of wealth
    3. Libs still don't get the mess and are clueless with the solution.

So...Libs wants us to foot the bill for the Fentenyl crisis...and now, we also have to give loans so that someone else can buy one while the same party gets to stay in power. What a deal!
